February M.A.F.s
Monthly Artsy Favorites
Hello, dear reader
A little earlier this month, I am writing to you about my monthly artsy faves. Usually you get this on the 30th of every month, but since February is cut a little short, I get to share this with you early.
This also means I can’t include one of my most anticipated albums of the year—as I haven’t heard it yet. My Ego Told Me to by Leigh Ann comes out today. As you are reading this there is a high chance I am currently listening to it.
I am writing this a little early, so I can’t include it just yet. But who knows, maybe you’ll read all about it my Mach M.A.F.s.
And so, the music piece of this edition is a little different.
If you follow me on Instagram (I am isabellag.poetry over there) you might know from my stories, that this year I am revisiting an old challenge. To listen to one new to me album or EP a week. With intention. Just listening, absorbing it fully.
And I love it.
Highlights so far are The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill by Lauryn Hill (I know, I was living under a rock… How have I never listened to this masterpiece?) and Girlhood EP by Morgan St. Jean. The songs Made For and Girls Just Wanna are looped in my brain these days.
Monthly Poetic Word
Luminara—a noun to describe the hope that emerges through the darkest moments.
My February was painted with grief. And I truly needed a little hope to make it through, therefore this word felt fitting.
Quiet Moments
Not really art by the actual definition. But the past few weekends I have tried to spend more time in nature.
The biggest Artist of them all. Painting our sky in multiple shades and letting sunlight hit through branches on a walk through the forest. I could go on an on.
But instead, I want to encourage you take a little quiet moment in nature for yourself these coming days. Just absorb what our stunning world has to offer to you.
There is beauty in the mundane and I so often overlook what’s right in front of me. Take this as reminder to slow down and taker a moment for yourself.
This month’s M.A.F.s were a bit different… I hope you still enjoyed them.
I hope February was kind to you and that the remaining days bring you all you hope they will. And with March I hope we all enter a month of joy and happiness.
With Love,
Ella
